Short-Term Accommodations at Ehthlateese

Membership Welcome

Due to the high demand within the nation of membership wanting to visit and stay short term in the Village of Ehthlateese, the Uchucklesaht Tribe converted the 6 plex into a 15 plex. Units are built like hotel rooms to maximize space.

The remote site and significant weather constraints

demanded unique solutions to meet the design and construction schedule.

Tectonica hired us for this project’s building envelope.

Home of the Thunderbird

“…perhaps there is also another reason for Hucuktlis Lake’s prodigious downpours. Situated on the traditional lands of the Uchucklesaht Tribe, the lake’s most notable feature is the T’iitsk’in Paawats Protected Area, also known as Thunderbird’s Nest, where tribe members still carry out spiritual practices.

A 2,300-hectare preserve of old-growth forests, mountains, bathing pools and waterfalls, this sacred ground is said to be the home of the last living Thunderbird, a supernatural being important to many Indigenous cultures, especially of the Pacific Northwest.

The most powerful of all spirits, Thunderbirds control rain and thunderstorms, and according to some legends they produce thunder by flapping their wings and lighting by flashing their eyes.”

Heating Homes efficiently depends on a good building envelope

Our building envelope effectively and efficiently insulates the interior from the elements. This remote location means power is even more precious resource; ensuring the building retains heat ensures good stewardship of this power.
